Outdoor Games for the Summer

Person playing croquet

Enjoy the warmer weather here in Dallas, TX by getting out of the apartment and playing a few outdoor games with your friends and loved ones! This week the LBJ Station Ltd. Blog has some game suggestions that you may love to try on a summer evening.

Croquet

Croquet can be played by two or four players. The object of the game is to hit your ball through a course of six hoops in the correct sequence and then back, finishing by hitting them against the center peg. Whoever completes the course first wins. It is easily portable, which makes it perfect for taking along on a picnic at the park.

Giant Jenga

The classic stacking game goes outdoors. Having the right strategy and some great Tetris skills is important to winning this game. There are commercial varieties available, but if you are interested in building your own, Home Depot offers these easy-to-follow instructions.

Tag Games

Who would think that running around chasing others could be so much fun? Take a step back to your childhood and get a group together to play a tag game. We found this awesome resource that has three pages of tag game variations to mix it up. This is a great way to get your friends off their phones and interacting with each other!

Glow in the Dark Capture the Flag

Make the most of the longer summer days playing this fun night game! It’s basically the same as classic capture the flag, but the flags are a group of glow sticks in one color. Members of each team will wear wrist bracelet glow sticks in the color of their flag. Just be sure not to hide your bracelets under any clothing! Let’s Get Together has more details.
